Most bloggers find it hard to gain traffic in their blog. They end up writing posts that read by little readers and that can be so annoying especially when you spend quality time composing the post. Getting quality traffic don’t depend on how many posts that are on your blog, some bloggers have less than 1000 posts and they gain close to 20k page views daily. Gaining quality traffic requires strategically planning to make your post reach your readers. There are various reasons why you are not gaining huge traffic on your blog:
1. SEO skills
Blogging is not as easy as you are told. When you become a blogger, you need to spend quality time on your blog and learn some SEO blogging skills that will help optimize your blog on search engines.
Such SEO skills includes submit your blog to Search Engines, submitting sitemaps to Search engine webmaster, posting using heading and sub-headings, use of WordPress plugins, adding robots.txt to your blog etc. Without been aware of these Search Engine Optimization skills, you are bound to get little traffic. Search engines are known to generate over 50% of blog traffic. Making constant research helps make you aware of these skills and rank your blog post on search engines.
2. Blog design
Your blog design gives the first impression of your blog to your readers. Once they visit your blog and it’s well designed with good layout, menu and responsive both on mobile and pc, they will fall in love with your blog. Using the right colors also matter, for example most users hate black background so use a light color background and dark text would make users read your blog easily. Another factor to consider is using premium responsive SEO theme or template. A responsive theme is one that looks user friendly both on PC and mobile while a SEO friendly theme is one that can be crawled easily by search
engines. Use of such themes and templates helps boost your traffic.
3. Blog Content
Blog content can be sub-categorized into two: your niche and post Selecting a niche that you love and will get fresh content daily is need to be a successful blogger. I hardly advice bloggers using more than three niches in a blog. Make your blog unique to your readers so that they can know what your blog is about. If you are about news stick to posting news so that your users can identify your blog so that when ever the need latest news, they will visit your blog.
Another reason why most bloggers gain traffic is from their post. Either they are posting wrongly or using copy and paste system. For example, If you post on Local news and notice it gives you little traffic, try and switch to foreign news, that might be what your users are interested in.
4. Lack of Social Media Sharing
Social media is regarded as the new search engines. As a blogger, you should a unique social media handle for your blog in top social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Pin Interest etc. You can grow your audience in social medias either by likes, followers, circles, or pins. Millions of users visit social medias daily and you can use social media to your advantage by drawing users to your blog via your Social Media platforms.
5. No time for your blog
Most bloggers have no time to blog, answer comments, share post on their social media and they expect to get high traffic from their blog. Blogging involves time like at least six hours weekly on your blog, writing quality post, looking at post that people loving viewing via Analytics and searching for high traffic paying keyword and using them regularly on your blog. Replying comments asked by users helps to build love and trust for your blog by the users and improve the responsiveness of your blog.
6. Lack of Content
Most bloggers blog for money without considering their blog content. They write posts that had little effects to their users or post with few words and more ads. You should utilize the use of heading and try posting on topics you have good knowledge on. If you have little or no knowledge on what your blogging, you might just keeping blogging without getting traffic. Remember content is one major determinant to gain traffic in your blog.

Some blogs take almost forever to load and that scarce may visitors away. The average time a site to load is 7 seconds and most users are so impatient that the hit the back button and navigate out of your site when it keeps loading for a long time. You can try and improve your site speed by using responsive themes, use of less ads or pop up ads, reducing the HTML scripts or minifying them to make them load faster.
8. Banned from search engines
Google is one of the most surfed search engines. Unknown to most site owners, Google webmaster has their policies and once you violate their policy, you get banned or blacklisted from Google Search engine. Using less pop ads, no copying other people’s post (plagiarism), avoid using blackhat traffic would prevent you from violating Google Webmaster policies. If you discover you website is blacklisted from Google Search, you are advised to visit Google Webmaster tools and appeal to them. Search engines are good means to generate loads of traffic so don’t neglect using SEO techniques to improve your Search Engine Page Rank.
9. Not Advertising
Advertisement can be sub-categorized into two: free and paid advertisement.
a) Free advertisement
This kind of advertisement involves orally telling your friends about your site. Tell them what your site is about and ask them to visit it. They might visit it and like it and come back visiting it. Don’t be shy to tell them and also try not to tell them means you are making money from your site. If they notice you are money from advertisement or other means, they might stop visiting your site or skip clicking your ads. There is power in your tongue.
b) Paid Advertisement
This involves paying for advertising from advertising websites to display your site banner on their publisher’s blog. Paid advertisement is a means to create aware of your blog. You can also venture in Facebook ads because it has proven to reach out users of Facebook, directing them back to your site and making huge amount of traffic with it.
10. Interaction with blogger or site owners
No man is an island. Don’t feel you know so much as keep away from conversation with other bloggers. Once you notice a site similar to yours is generating load of traffic, you can try and contact the Admin of the site through their Contact Page. Get to chat with him/her in a friendly way and ask reasonable question. Most bloggers are happy when chatting with other bloggers. You might also venture in writing guest posts for the blog there by create awareness of your blog to the users. He/she can also tell you few tips how they generate quality traffic in their blog.
Getting huge traffic may take time especially for newbie sites. Regular posting, sharing on social medias, replying to comments and using good responsive seo friendly themes would help boost your traffic.
